Meagan and Jeremy’s gorgeous Alabama beach wedding was like a faerie tale come true. Family and friends gathered together for a Southern-style wedding in the picturesque American town of Daphne, Alabama. The celebration was complete with festoon lights, live American Rock ‘n’Roll, fresh sweet tea and a bellyful of Southern style cooking. The father of the bride and his band, “Johnny No”, serenaded the couple while they danced for the first time as man and wife, while the crowd enjoyed the homemade Creole gumbo and five different types of cornbread.
Meagan’s gorgeous blue tulle dress was designed by Teresa Romero Atelier. The ceremony was held at historical May Day Park and Pier, where the first May Day event was held in 1917 and the tradition lasted for more than 50 years. Afterwards, guests celebrated with live music and Southern style home cooking at Meagan’s Uncle Bucky’s gorgeous historical home, The Captain O’Neale House. Built in 1834 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it is thought to be one of the oldest homes in Baldwin County. Captain O’Neal was a Blockade Runner, zipping into ports that were blocked off by the Yankees. He had his ship built in Scotland, and it was the fastest ship of its time …He knew the ports better than the Yankees and, with the help of his speedy ship, he never once got caught. There is a model of his ship on display at the Fairhope Library. Meagan’s Uncle Bucky, Fred Nordmann, bought the home in 1979 and has spent the rest of his lifetime restoring it.
Meagan’s mother and two sisters decorated the beautiful historical Southern Style home and backyard with white seashells, tea candles, starfish and baby’s breath. Meagan’s sister, India, baked cupcakes and every aunt, grandmother and cousin was put to work making fried green tomatoes, jambalaya, collard greens, pulled pork, Louisiana red beans with rice, and every other Southern dish you can imagine!
From the moment I arrived in the Heart of Dixie I felt completely at home, welcomed by Meagan and Jeremy and all of their amazing family and friends. It’s true what they say about Southern Hospitality, and these two showed me what it means to be part of a true Southern family. I can honestly say this was one of my favourite weddings to date!
Congratulations Meagan and Jeremy!
Meagan + Jeremy’s Epic Love Story:
“In November 2015, we spent 12 days in Gigante, Nicaragua–a small fishing village on the Pacific coast which attracts surfers with its nearly constant swell and consistent waves.
This was Jeremy’s 4th time visiting Gigante, and he had lived and worked here twice before (as a cook, boat captain and surfing instructor).
On one perfect, sunny day, Jeremy gave me 3 options of something fun we could do that afternoon. One of the options was to go on a hike “up there.” He was pointing to the tippy top of a lush, green mountainous area (called “Giant’s Foot”) that rounded out the blue cove. I opted for the hike.
What I didn’t know, was that this was Jeremy’s “favorite spot in the entire world” and that he had always intended to ask me there.
It was a gruesome, tough hike, which required rock climbing up some straight slates of rock. Midway, was a view of our cove as well as a view of the neighboring cove, which I hadn’t even realized was there!
Once at the top, the view was stunning! I have never seen such a view!
Jeremy suggested we crawl on our bellies to the very edge and look straight down. It was a dizzying 300+ feet straight down into the Pacific, where huge waves were crashing on the rocks below us.
We scooted back away from the ledge and Jeremy suggested taking pictures. I readily whipped out my phone and said “Ooh! I want to try & and take a 360-degree panorama!”
I noticed Jeremy kneel down, but I thought he was simply taking a break from the hike and/or doing something goofy to mess up my photo (which he’s prone to doing, the prankster.)
Just as I got all the way around, I stopped the photo (Oh, how I wish I had included him in it!). That’s when I noticed he wasn’t just taking a break; he was kneeling down with a ring in his hand…
Of course, I said “YES!”
I couldn’t be more thrilled to be marrying my best friend and the love of my life! What a wonderful, wild adventure we’ll soon be embarking on!”
