“First Flight” - my submission to @cyaconferen

“First Flight” - my submission to @cyaconference last year! Although I didn’t win anything, I got amazing feedback for my illustration that gave me heaps more confidence in my art! 🎨

I love entering competitions because I learn so much every time, from composition to honing technical abilities, to pushing myself further and trying something I might never do before. 💖

I loved drawing this little kid in her pjs on her first flight with her dragon - who has a cheeky little grin. The little girl slipping off as the dragon dives down in the wind, and the moon lighting their way. I might add a city below to complete the drawing and give more perspective (which was some of my feedback!) 🐉

A little over a year ago I drew my original comic

A little over a year ago I drew my original comic character, Poppy Rowanberry for the first time. 🥹

She looks so different now and has evolved with my art style, but I will always cherish this first sketch. 🖌️

I remember drawing her with both styles of eyes and asking all of you which one I should choose, during my 100 Days of Graphic Novels challenge 🎨
